The Marshall Public Library is asking citizens to take a trip through 50 books in 2018.
Starting January 8, the library will begin its “50/50 Book Quest” challenge. The effort encourages residents to read 50 books over 50 weeks during the year. The first rule is one book per category, one category per book.
“There is a wide variety of categories beyond just your usual suspects like biographies, science-fiction, or romance,” said Becky Hadley, Lead Circulation Librarian. “These categories are more specific like ‘a book that became a movie,’ ‘a book with a ghost in it,’ and ‘a book by an Idaho author’ to name a few. We want participants to experience a wide variety of styles and authors by reading both fiction and nonfiction.”
The challenge will wrap up December 31, 2018 and those who complete their quest will receive a unique 50/50 Book Quest T-shirt. Registration is limited to Marshall Public Library adult patrons who have a library card. Participants can register in person at the library, 113 South Garfield Avenue, or online at marshallpl.org.
