New grass and shade at the Old Town Pavilion thanks to Leadership Pocatello-Chubbuck!
Thanks to the Leadership Pocatello-Chubbuck Board of Directors, facilitators and class members, the Old Town Pavilion has an expanded grass area, two beautiful new trees, and three new wind sails that will provide increased shade for all of events at the Pavilion this summer. Not only did Leadership Pocatello-Chubbuck fund these new improvements, they also volunteered time to prep the area for the sod, laid the sod with volunteers from Bannock Civitan and poured the new cement bases that will hold the new wind sails.
Then, last Thursday the Leadership class spent the morning planting all of the street flower pots and cleaned up Dudunake Park, Picture Park landscape triangles, Simplot Square, Leadership Pocatello Park, the corner of UP Avenue and W. Center Street, the fence area that is home to The Kind Village and trimmed shrubs at the Pavilion. What an amazing group of volunteers that are so committed to making our community beautiful! Thank you Leadership Pocatello-Chubbuck!
Thank you also to Butler Builders, Margie Woolf, Paul Nelson Sprinklers, the City of Pocatello, Ben Ledford, Latecia Herzog, Tyson Kunz, the Old Town Pocatello Design Committee and Bannock Civitans for working to make the project a success.
Hanging Flower Baskets are almost ready for the Summer!
Hanging flower baskets have been planted! Pinehurst Nursery has the flowers growing inside their greenhouse and they are beautiful! The plan, weather permitting, is to hang the baskets at the end of May. The partners and staff from Myers Anderson Architects will once again be hanging the baskets throughout Old Town.
This year there will be 17 baskets hung on East Center and 138 baskets hung on the West side of Old Town. Thanks to the Spaulding Foundation we are adding 58 additional baskets this year! Their very gracious grant for the continued beautification in Old Town funds the initial purchase of the basket and first year planting.
Thanks to our annual sponsors, planting continues each year along with watering, fertilizing, care and maintenance. In addition to the new baskets, the metal signs that hung with the flowers are being replaced with pennant flags that will feature the logos and names of our annual sponsors. We are very excited about the new pennants and believe they will bring additional color, movement and recognition to our sponsors.
If you are not already a flower basket sponsor, we invite you to become involved. Now is the time to become a sponsor and contribute to this on-going beautification project. The sponsor form is available on our website, www.oldtownpocatello.com , or you can call the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce for more information, 208-233-1525. Thank you for your consideration!
