Decorating Contest Winners Announced!
Old Town Pocatello, Inc. is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Christmas Decorating Contest. These merchants were selected based on their decorations visible from the street during evening hours. The judges reported it was very difficult to make these awards because so many merchants did such a beautiful job. The Promotions & Events Committee would like to thank all of the merchants that participated and congratulate the winners:

Parade, Santa, Candy Canes & more this week!
The Old Town Pocatello Christmas adventure begins Friday at 6:30pm when “A Night So Bright” Lights Parade starts winding its way through Old Town Pocatello. Rudolph has given presenting sponsor ISU Credit Union 2,000 reindeer antlers to be given away along the parade route to children 12 and under. Hundreds of floats will have candy and treats for the kids. The parade route is the same as last year, running from 3rd and East Center and traveling under the Center Street Underpass to The Yellowstone and turning to travel North on Main Street to the Old Town Pavilion. You can visit our website, www.oldtownpocatello.com, to view the parade map, or to register a float. Registration will be open until 5pm on Wednesday.
After the parade, be sure to join us in the parking lot of the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce, 324 S. Main, to celebrate the official re-lighting of the historic Hotel Yellowstone neon sign. Old Town Pocatello’s Relight the Night Committee has been working with the owners of The Yellowstone Hotel Building, Ann and Dick Carroll, along with the owners of The Yellowstone Restaurant, Denis Clijsters, Mike McCormick, Jennifer and Rory Erchul, to have the sign renovated. The work is now complete and we will be celebrating the re-lighting following the parade, at approximately 8:30pm.
Candy Cane Event & Santa on Saturday! Visit the shops and restaurants of Old Town to discover Candy Canes! To celebrate Small Business Saturday, 100’s of Candy Canes will be available as you shop, dine and play downtown. Some Candy Canes have a value, up to $100. The day will also feature free photos with Santa at Station Square. The North Pole Mail Box has been set up and kids will get to write their Christmas letters and, Zoo Idaho will be there too, with surprise animal visitors. The Yellowstone Restaurant will host cookies and milk for the kids. Kanda’s & Co, inside the Elks Building, will host Frosty the Snowman. Poky Dot Boutique will host Ruddy the Reindeer and will have reindeer slime for the kids. The Elwen Cottage will have wooden Christmas trees the kids can paint and take home. The Citizens Community Bank Old Town Trolley will also be running with free rides for families. All of the fun will run from 11am to 3pm, or while supplies last.

Celebrate an Old Fashioned Christmas with Idaho’s Antique Row! They are sponsoring a Coloring Contest for all age groups. Beginning on Friday, pick up your coloring page at any participating Antique Row store. There are different pages for age 0-6, 7-15, and 16+. Turn in your beautifully colored page no later than December 11th. Winners in each age group will receive 4 tickets to the Reel Theatre and a “snack pack” to enjoy at the movie!
The Grape Van Gogh has a variety of painting projects scheduled for this week. If you have kids at home or family visiting, The Grape Van Gogh is a wonderful experience. Check their schedule at www.grapevangogh.com.
Portneuf Valley Brewing will be closed on Thursday but will joyously re-open on Friday and invite you to come down for dinner and a show after the Lights Parade. Best by Yesterday will be performing Friday night from 8:30-10:30pm. Saturday, get your shopping in early at PVB’s Annual Crafts and Drafts Holiday Fair in The Loft from 2pm to 7pm. Over a dozen local artisans will have items available. So, grab a draft and shop for some crafts. Saturday night the award winning national fiddle championship bluegrass band, Fiddlin’ Around will be performing from 8:30pm-10:30pm. Both shows are FREE.

A special thank you goes out to the City of Pocatello Police Department and Street Department for assisting us with the Trick-or-Treat the Old Town Streets event on Halloween afternoon. We had a great crowd and we very much appreciate the help and attention to keep everyone safe. Thank you to Mayor Blad for handing out candy and visiting with the crowd. And, thank you to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for serving chili and hot dogs. It was a fun, festive afternoon in Old Town!

All Under One Roof, 234 N. Main, invites you to “An Evening in Red,” a special night to remember people taken from us and celebrate people still living with HIV/AIDS. On Saturday, December 1 from 7-10pm, celebrate the advancements and future education in the treatment of HIV-STD’S in our community. Proceeds from the evening will be used to support and enhance free HIV testing programs and education programs for people living with this chronic disease throughout Southeastern Idaho. Wear red attire and enjoy the event featuring a live auction, DJ, refreshments and no host bar.
